The Bartlett Historical Society is dedicated to the citizens of Bartlett PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE. The BHS is responsible for the maintenance and operations of the Bartlett Museum, located in the historic Gotten House, which was built in 1871 and contains historical artifacts from Bartlett dating from the 1830’s. The BHS assists the City of Bartlett in maintaining the Gotten House itself. We also maintain historical records on Bartlett, the families who have lived in Bartlett and their descendants. These records are available for research at the museum.
BHS members are actively involved in preserving the day-to-day history of Bartlett. We collect information, artifacts and photographs; present oral histories; help to maintain the Gotten House; and operate the Bartlett Museum to help our citizens learn about the rich heritage of our community and its former citizens.
We meet on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Gotten House at 2969 Court Street in Bartlett. The Bartlett Museum is open the first and third Sunday’s of every month from 2-4 pm.
For more information on how to join the BHS you may attend any of the monthly meetings, visit the museum, or you may contact Ruth Farris at 901-372-6982
